I really miss.... everything.

Especially Esta and The Kid. Esta was always so nice to us; never did find out what 'mi vida' meant. The Kid... he was quiet. I don't remember much about him, but the bits I do make me wonder if he ever spoke. Kind of a creepy little guy, but sharp as a tack. Cute enough to get the little old ladies to drop change into his hat. Something about his eyes was off though. Made me nervous.

I really miss hot running water, too. God, it's hard to stay clean here. Everything outsides coated in dust and dirt and other less pleasant bits and pieces. I'm filthy, but I've gotta make do with just wiping myself down unless I wanna trek back and forth with buckets for the wash tub and then wait for it to heat up.

Guh. Hand got infected; its clearing up now, but the stitch I put it is still all puffy. Gross. Its tender, so I'm not sure why I'm putting myself through the whole 'oh god it hurts' thing now just to write this stuff.

Hand feels a little better, scabbing over. I can't make a fist, but I can write without wincing now.

The kittens I mentioned before are taking over the bottom floor with their ma. She's got them holed up in a cupboard in the kitchen area, and she hisses at me everytime I go down to get water. I think I'm going to take one when they're bigger, try and tame it up. Might be nice to have a cat again. Sick as it sounds, the rest of them are either going to die out in the streets or wind up as my dinner. With the rat population down, I need to eat something other than jerkey and granola.

The little garden a few houses over is doing well. The wire keeps everything but the rodents out, but the cats keep them in check. I managed to get them to sprout after I used fertilizer. I had to go into the city to find it, but it was worth it. I might have vegetables one of these days. Until then, it's just dandelions and whatever grows on the trees in the yards.

No sign of any Tribe activity out here. Its been really quiet these days.

Roof finally stopped leaking.

When it gets a little drier outside I'll patch it up. Found another litter of kittens outside. Cats keep the rats away. It's both a good and bad thing. Writing hurts my wrist. I forgot about the nail sticking out near the ladder and cut my hand up. Peroxide cleaned it up. Hurt like hell though.

Longer entry later, when hand doesn't hurt as much.
